UDK481
On-the-fly top load tester with leak testing & bottle height measuring
Need
In order to guarantee delivering bottles of a consistent high quality to your customers, it is important to detect process changes immediately. By doing so, you can take immediate action to solve the problem, rather than finding out there is a problem only after having already produced a high number of bottles which have to go to waste.
One aspect of a thorough quality control process in blow moulding is doing a top load test.
But what is top load testing?
It is a compression test in order to test the crush resistance of bottles. This is an important parameter to determine the performance of a bottle in the bottling process, transport and storage.
Besides top load testing, also bottle height measuring and of course leak testing are important aspects of top-tier quality control.
Therefore, Delta Engineering has developed a new, revolutionary way of quality control combining all these tests, allowing on-the-fly detection of process changes.
The technology
Thanks to its patented ‘all-in-one’ technology, one test head can perform 4 types of in-line tests at the same time:
- Non-destructive in-line top load inspection: to detect weak walls or bad material distribution
- Bottle height measuring: to monitor the bottle height
- Pressure decay leak test (optional): to detect medium-sized to big leaks
- High voltage leak test (optional): to detect very small leaks (microcracks) in the gate area which cannot be detected by pressure decay, or to detect thin areas on HDPE/PP. Thanks to insulation measurement, this technology can detect ANY crack, no matter how small in the detection range.
The UDK481 has 1 test head, but the top load tester is also available with 2, 3 or 4 test heads.
